(FR) Sagittarius, Michel Laplénie Director: Voice Workshop "La famille Bach" (15-21 jul 2012)

Faculty: Michael Laplénie (musical direction), Emmanuel Mandrin (continuo organ) and Pierre Sciama (countertenor).

This year the workshop returns to the German music with the Bach family: a century of music from the ancestor,  Johann Bach to Johann Sebastian Bach. The work will also take aim at Johann Michael Bach and Johann Christoph Bach whose nephew Johann Sebastian says he was "a profound composer."

The Fall 2012 meeting of the New England Chapter of the American Musicological Society will be held on Saturday, 29 September 2012 at the College of the Holy Cross (Worcester, MA).

The Program Committee welcomes proposals of up to 300 words for papers and roundtable sessions. Presenters must be members of the American Musicological Society. Those who are not currently dues-paying members of the New England Chapter will be asked to kindly remit the modest Chapter dues ($10).

Early June New Releases!

The start of June brings with it some great new releases from a wide variety of labels. Two releases of note come on the Glossa label; A release of Vivaldi arias by Robert Invernizzi, and Paolo Pandolfo playing gamba works of De Machy. Also on Glossa is a new recording of Montevrdi's Il Ritorno D'Ulisse in Patria. On the Coro label, there is a new collaboration between The Sixteen and the Hilliard Ensemble of Manuscripts from the British Library, and is not to be missed! Keeping in the theme of choral music, there is a new release on the Phaia label of Tudor Church Music, and on the Signum Label of a new work; Patrick Hawes' Lazarus Requiem. Two early music releases of note are on the Alpha label, Works by Carissimi, Mazzocchi, and Rossi, and on the Christophorus label, Baroque Suites for Guitar.  …”
