The DANZIG LUTE BOOK (Danzig [Gdansk] tablature 4022)
"is a collection of early seventeenth century lute music of Gdansk provenance, now kept in Berlin. This tablature was lost during the Second World War. Unexpectedly, after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and the resulting political changes, this manuscript was revealed to be in the collection of the Staatsbibliothek Preussischer Kulturbesitz in East Berlin: it turned out that during the war part of the Gdansk library collection was taken to Moscow, and from there the whole collection was transferred to the Berlin Staatsbibliothek Preussischer Kulturbesitz in the 1950s...

Fortune Books announce the publication of The Sultan's Organ, the personal diary of organ builder Thomas Dallam. In 1599 he took a self-playing organ from London to Constantinople – now Istanbul – as a present from Queen Elizabeth I to the Sultan of Turkey. He played his virginals to various audiences en route and the organ to the Sultan himself. When best-selling travel author John Mole came across the diary in its original Elizabethan English he was so enthralled that he knew it deserved a wider audience. He put it into modern English so it reads as if its author were alive today

“CFP: A-R Editions
A-R Editions seeks proposals for editions of music to be included in the seven Recent Researches in Music series (Middle Ages and Early Renaissance, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Nineteenth and Early Twentieth Centuries, American Music, and Oral Traditions). Each edition is usually devoted to works by a single composer or to a single genre of composition and contains an introduction to the music and its historical context, a critical report, and translations of vocal texts.
A-R Editions also seeks proposals for editions of music to be included in the Collegium Musicum: Yale University series. This series seeks to present a varied selection of works that draws from a particular repertory or historical context or that reflects a particular thematic focus. The works should be of interest to early music performers and ensembles (medieval through mid-18th century).
