(US) 11th Annual Ronn McFarlane Lute Seminar (March 19 - 21, 2010)

Over the weekend of March 19 -21, 2010, Grammy nominated lutenist and teacher Ronn McFarlane will conduct a seminar for lute players in Washington D. C. The seminar will include concerts of Elizabethan lute music and new compositions by Ronn McFarlane, plus master classes and private lessons, and a lecture on early Italian lute music.

Füssen – Northern Italy and the Lute
Lute making in the Füssen-region and Northern Italy during the 15–18. Century, migration and interactions among lute makers.

The Deutsche Lautengesellschaft (German Lute Society) is holding a two day conference focusing on lute making in the Füssen area and the activity of German lute makers in Northern Italy (many of those lute makers originated from the Füssen-Region in Southern Germany).

500 Years of Vespers

Early Music America will hold its third national early music conference and exhibition June 10-12, 2010 in Berkeley, CA. With the theme "500 Years of Vespers," the conference will feature a variety of participatory workshop sessions, in addition to lectures and panels of early music artists. Featured speakers will include Clifford Bartlett from England (editor of the most widely used edition of the Monteverdi Vespers of 1610), Bill Mahrt and Herb Myers (Stanford), Alejandro Planchart (UCSB), Rebecca Baltzer (University of Texas), Joan Kimball and Bob Wiemken (Piffaro). Susan Hellauer (Anonymous 4) will lead a Chant Camp, and other workshop sessions will be led by Sarah Mead (Brandeis), Bill Mahrt, and many others.
