"From April 23rd through 30th, 2013, the Clarion Society will host its sixth annual Clarion Collegium Week (CCW) of master classes for gifted young musicians.  Since 2008, CCW has assembled advanced music students and young professional musicians from around the country to be instructed in Baroque performance practice by some of the country’s foremost early music specialists.  This year’s curriculum will focus on the captivating, recently discovered Baroque repertoire from the Jesuit missions in Bolivia and throughout Latin America.

"The English Concert (TEC) returns to the Wigmore Hall for its fourth concert there this season, and welcomes Italian firebrand Fabio Biondi back to the orchestra for the first time in five years. Biondi will direct TEC in works by Haydn, Mozart and Gaetano Pugnani at the Wigmore Hall on Tuesday, 7 May 2013, with further performances at the Hexagon in Reading (8 May), St. George’s Bristol (10 May), and the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford (11 May).

The Easter concert of TREBANTIQUA celebrates Alessandro Scarlatti with one of his vocal masterpieces: the Stabat Mater for 2 voices, 2 violins and continuo in the luscious setting of Trevi nel Lazio, the old, fascinating village in the mountains of Lazio home of the ancient Bonifazi pipe organ dating 1634. The program is completed by Scarlatti's flute concerto in c minor from his collection of 7 "sonate o concerti" expressely written for German flutist J.J.Quantz during Scarlatti's last year of life in Naples.

For the first time, an organiser has dared to draw theological, dramaturgical and compositional lay lines between Bach’s great oratorical works in the programme of a festival. The Christmas Oratorio, the St. John Passion and the Easter and Ascension Oratorios form together a grand oratorio project which must have been a highlight in the musical life of Leipzig in 1734/1735. On a total of three concert evenings, these scenes from the vita Christi will be presented in Bach’s unique musical realization. The oratorios will be directed by Trevor Pinnock and Sir John Eliot Gardiner. …
