"The Manitoba Early Music Festival, Inc. was founded on July 18th 2012. Since then, we have produced shows with an early multi-arts trio, Damsel & Swains. We are planning to produce a full scale 3-day festival in Saint-Norbert, Manitoba, in the Fall of 2015 in partnership with other organizations and artists. Artistic fields included will be visual, dance, music, and theatre.
We are a new registered non-for-profit art organization in Winnipeg : The Manitoba Early Music & Arts Festival,
Incorporated. Our mission is to offer the Winnipeg public access to their historical roots in medieval,
renaissance, and baroque times. Using the arts as an educational tool to reconnect the public with these ancient
roots, we hope to help them figure out which direction we would like to take in our cultural development together.
We would love to include artists from our First Nations communities as well, as they did exist back in what we
call medieval times.
To hire local artists and personalities for our events is very important to us. The Manitoba Early Music & Arts
Festival, Inc. has only been in business since 2012. We do not have paid staff. All our work is done by a board of
5 dedicated members : Heather Ann Dixon (lawyer), Daniel Donahue (recording producer), James Maiello
(university professor - University of Manitoba), Julie Mongeon-Ferré (Bureau de l'éducation française - Education
Manitoba), and Josée Vaillancourt (stage artist, freelance teacher-administrator-organizer-etc.) ..."
