(US) Colorado Case Company, Instrument Cases

“Since 1993 the Colorado Case Company has been making professional grade cases and case covers for acoustic instruments, including rigid harp cases. Our cases were inspired by the demands of the Colorado weather. A typical summer festival here can start with freezing temperatures and snow one day, followed by a torrential afternoon thunderstorm and temperatures of over 100 the next. Under these conditions all instruments need extra protection....the same protection provided by our products.

Colorado Case Company makes a wide assortment of custom and stock case solutions. This includes soft cases (gig bags), case covers and rigid flight cases. All of our case solutions are designed to provide the ultimate protection system, including protection from heat, cold and rain or snow. While we specialize in stringed instruments such as guitars, banjos, mandolins and harps, we have made cases for nearly every conceivable instrument. So if you don't see what you need, give us a call.“

(US) Unprofitable Instruments

"Kate McWilliams enjoys researching and recreating underappreciated medieval instruments. She began building instruments while in college, and now builds them professionally. She has exhibited her instruments at the Boston Early Music Festival, the Berkeley Early Music Festival, and the Madison Early Music Festival. While largely self-taught, she has spent two years studying with luthier Daniel Larson.

Her current research interest is the British Museum Citole (formerly known as a gittern), one of the sole surviving instruments from the fourteenth century. This study reveals valuable insights into the practices of medieval stringed instrument makers. She has built a replica of this remarkable instrument, though with only a sampling of the intricate carvings.

She holds a BM in Music Education and an MM in Violin Performance, with a concentration in Early Music, from the University of Delaware, and an MA in Musicology from the University of Minnesota. She teaches violin and viola performance in private lessons (both modern and historical technique), and frequently gives lectures in schools about different aspects of music in society. Her most influential teachers have been John Madura, Nicholas Mann, Russell Murray, and David Douglass. " ...

(US) Wiedenman Custom Inlay

"Landon Wiedenman is a fine wood and exotic materials artist specializing in unique custom woodwork. Drawing his inspiration from the sharp contrast found in the landscape of the Montana of his youth. Wiedenman has pursued the art of inlay and fine wood working, originally as the first step towards building custom instruments. Along the way he found an affinity for exotic woods, ivory, and shell, now his mediums of choice. Landon Wiedenman can create literally any design using coral, water buffalo horn, turquoise, Damascus, or any material that provides the colors and textures needed. The palette and canvas are limited only by your imagination. Wiedenman has developed techniques which can inlay a curved surface with a radius of just one half inch, wrapping your design around the grip of a knife, a sculptured jewelry box, or even the button of a guitar machine.
