Bach Collegium San Diego (BCSD) engages audiences with accessible, historically informed performances and educational programs featuring repertoire from the Renaissance, Baroque, and early Classical eras. Founded in 2003 to diversify the musical offerings in the San Diego community, BCSD was begun as a labor of love by Ruben Valenzuela, who remains at the helm as BCSD’s Music Director. During its fourteen seasons, BCSD has presented a wide variety of historically significant works, including many San Diego premieres. Works are performed using the instrumentation and techniques of the period in which they were written. BCSD engages the country’s finest early musicians, bringing world-class historically informed performance to the greater San Diego area through mainstage concerts and admission-free lunchtime performances. Through its excellent programming and exemplary performances, BCSD is considered one of the premier early music ensembles on the West
Coast and is quickly becoming known as one of the foremost ensembles to watch in the United States.
