On March 13, 2011 Nota Bene Period Orchestra presents “Bach’s Leipzig”, a concert of music by J.S Bach along with the music of his contemporaries and predecessors from the historic city of Leipzig, Germany.  The concert, which features local favourite, mezzo-soprano Jennifer Enns Modolo, will include a slide show with historical connections to our own city of Kitchener.

The city of Leipzig has long been a vital centre of German culture. In Baroque times, music was heard in Leipzig's churches, at the opera house, in daily performances by the town band and at the evening concerts of the collegium musicum . “Bach’s Leipzig” will explore each of these colourful spheres of musical activity in and around the lifetime of Johann Sebastian Bach, featuring music not only from the master but from some of his compatriots including Telemann, Kuhnau, and Rosenmüller. The concert will be led from the violin by internationally-renowned baroque performance specialist Stephen Marvin. With the addition of Ms. Enns Modolo’s delightfully clear, sparkling voice, this concert is not to be missed!

Sunday March 13th at 3 p.m.
