Early Music Concerts 2010-2011: (US) Michel Blavet and Friends -- Gems of the French Baroque (Bacchanalia Baroque Ensemble Concert) (2011 April 28)

Bacchanalia presents music of the French Baroque for one and two flutes with violin and basso continuo.

On the program are the Sonata in e minor by Michel Blavet from his third book of sonatas, published 1740; the Trio in D major from “Pieces en trios” by Marin Marais, published 1692; duos for two flutes by Joseph Bodin de Boismortier, published 1725; Concert no. 5, from “Pieces de Clavecin en Concert” by Jean-Philippe Rameau, published 1741; a selection from the Concerts Royaux of Francois Couperin, published 1722. In addition, Georg Philipp Telemann will make an appearance as an honorary Frenchman with his “New” Paris Quartet no 2 in a minor, published c. 1737.
