Workshops/Festivals 2009: (CA) Grand River Baroque Festival (June 19-21, 2009)

We are very excited to welcome you to our first season as artistic directors. Our plans extend well into the future, building on the superb legacy of the previous directors of this festival, and introducing the Contemporary Baroque Training Institute in 2010. As wind performers who also revel in the beauties of strings, voices and keyboards, we look forward to sharing our unique perspective. We promise to bring you unusual and scintillating repertoire along with beloved standards.

This season celebrates the senses, the seasons, and the elements of earth, air, fire and water. You will hear enduring favourites such as Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, and unexpected treats – double concerti by newly rediscovered composers of the baroque and classical eras.

For us, every concert is a celebration – a once-in-a-lifetime special event that can be prepared for years yet exists only once. We celebrate with food and friends, with spectacle and sound in the beautiful, bucolic setting of the Buehlow Barn and grounds. This is a stage that we all share, and we so look forward to meeting all of you again this summer.
