"Did you know that Handel’s Messiah, which we think of as "a Christmas tradition", was originally written for Easter? On April 13, 2014, the NBBP Orchestra & Singers will present this glorious masterpiece as it was heard 272 years ago (to the day!) at its premiere in Dublin on April 13, 1742.

Come hear the very best of early music players and singers right here in KW. As usual we will be playing on period instruments with the sound and energized style of historically-inspired performers.

As a warm-up to the full performance, why not also participate a day earlier (April 12th) in a “Sing-along Messiah” NBBP Fundraiser? Local choral legend Howard Dyck will lead the entire audience, along with the NBBP Orchestra & Choir and soloists, through Messiah choruses, ...

including the most joyful of all, the “Hallelujah” chorus. Julie Baumgartel will lead the NBBP Orchestra in both performances, and Jan Overduin will join us as guest harpsichordist. Most importantly, we are also featuring a list of world class guests soloists. An opportunity not to be missed!
