"Cambridge Early Music runs summer schools - short intensive study courses - in Baroque, Renaissance and Medieval music, and organises an annual programme of concerts, many of which take place alongside the summer schools. ..."

"In 2013 we offer two residential study weeks, one on Baroque, one on Renaissance music. Both courses are for experienced instrumentalists and singers, working together and separately in chamber groups and large ensembles. The courses are directed by highly acclaimed and experienced specialist musicians, universally respected and admired as both teachers and performers."

BAROQUE MUSIC: From Monteverdi to Vivaldi, 4-11 August, 2013

"This course gives participants the chance to study a wide range of vocal and instrumental music. Each day will offer technique workshops, choral and orchestral sessions for large-scale works, and one-to-a-part chamber music exploring unusual repertoire in various combinations of voices and instruments, selected and coached by the tutors. ..."

RENAISSANCE MUSIC: Lessons with Lassus, 11-17 August 2013

"Orlandus Lassus was a remarkable composer, scholar, linguist and arranger and conductor of music; he was also a great and influential teacher of composers such as the Gabrieli, both Andrea and Giovanni. ...

We will study works written by the master, alongside music by others (including his pupils) which we know he conducted. Lassus's works will form the core of the course: ranging from bawdy carnival songs, through achingly beautiful French chansons and powerful motets, to his take on the polychoral style introduced to him by the Gabrieli; but we will also ..."
