Viola da Gamba Virtuoso Lisa Terry and Baroque Cellist Angela Yeung will present “Due Bassi: Virtuosic Baroque Duets for Violoncello and Viola da Gamba“. This will be part of the Early Music at Saint Peter’s Church concert series. The program is of original duets and arrangements for two bass instruments from the 18th century, featuring works by Boismortier, Rameau, Corelli, Mondoville, Geminiani and more.

This performance is offered in memory of Elizabeth Guiher.
    

Lisa Terry performs on viola da gamba and cello with Parthenia, Dryden, the Lyra Consort, Pegasus Early Music in Rochester, and Tempesta di Mare in Philadelphia. She was a founding member of ARTEK, and frequently appears to critical acclaim as a soloist in the Passions of J.S. Bach. She teaches at the French-American School of Music in Manhattan and at workshops across the country. This past Winter, Ms. Terry toured the three J.S. Bach Sonatas for viola da gamba and harpsichord with Dongsok Shin and Joanne Kong, in recitals and lecture demonstrations from New York to Florida. She will lead the Viol Consort Initiative in July at the University of San Diego Chamber Music Festival, directed by Angela Yeung.

Angela Yeung is an Associate Professor of Music at the University of San Diego. A much sought-after cellist and guest conductor, Dr. Yeung has performed in major concert venues around the world, reaching audiences on all the major continents. From 1994 to 2005 she was the Artistic Co-Director of Orvieto Musica, an international summer chamber music festival in Orvieto, Italy. From 1996 to 2010 she was the Director of the University of San Diego Symphony Orchestra, one of the most active college orchestras in San Diego. She is a founding member of the National College Orchestra Director Association and was President of the West Division from 2007 to 2010. She has been the Artistic Director of the concert series Early Music at Saint Peter’s Church in Manhattan, New York since 1994.
