The University of York’s Annual Baroque Day, promoted in association with the National Centre for Early Music, marks the 350th anniversary of the death of Henry Purcell.

The inspiration for this new collaborative project is sublime Iberian and Indian music from the early 1500s. Portuguese missionaries and Goan Indians joined together in music as churches, built in the exotic land known as the ‘Pearl of the Orient’, resounded to the extraordinary blended sounds of Europe and Asia.Tickets: £20.00 (concessions £15.00) including Indian refreshments.

(US) Clarion Orchestra to Play in BAM's Spring 2009 Production of Bach's St. Mat

In April 2009, The Orchestra of the Clarion Music Society will perform in Sir Jonathan Miller’s beloved staging of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion at BAM. Following highly acclaimed and sold-out BAM engagements in 1997, 2001, and 2006, the production returns as part of BAM’s 2009 Spring Season.
