(DE) Bach Festival (II) in Bad Krozingen (2011 May 20-22)

The German Clavichord Society (DCS) in September 2010 started a four part festival devoted to J.S. Bach, his sources and his scholars. Close to Lüneburg in Northern Germany where the 15 years old Johann Sebastian was chorister, the first part of this festival was arranged in September 2010 at Bleckede Castle and devoted to the young Bach and his musical sources, namely Buxtehude, Reincken and Böhm.

This year’s theme—Chant: Old and New—is inspired by a particular chant book, which makes Halifax’s Saint Mary’s University its home: the Salzinnes Antiphonal, a 16th-century Cistercian manuscript from what is now the region of Namur in modern-day Belgium.
