“The Warsaw Chamber Opera was founded in 1961 by Stefan Sutkowski, who has served as its Managing and Artistic Director ever since. The company’s inaugural production was G.B.Pergolesi’s La serva padrona (4 September 1961).
Since October 15th 1986 the Warsaw Chamber Opera has performed in its own Theatre at Solidarnosci Avenue 76 B. It is an ancient building from 1775 having a small lovely audience with excellent acoustic. This building is entered in the register of historical monuments of Warsaw.
At present, the Warsaw Chamber Opera company consists of 2 directors, 2 designers, 7 conductors, over 75 soloists, and 2 small-size symphony orchestras (the Warsaw Sinfonietta and the Orchestra of Warsaw Chamber Opera). It also has the period-instruments ensemble Musicae Antiquae Collegium Varsoviense, a Mime Group and the 40-strong Chamber Choir. ..
he music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart has long occupied a prominent place in the company’s repertoire. A series of successful productions encouraged the decision to mark the 200th anniversary of the composer’s death with the 1st Mozart Festival (15 June – 26 July 1991). Its programme included all of Mozart’s stage works (26 productions). The Mozart Festival has been organised on an annual basis since then. Every edition of the event (15 June – 26 July) comprises Mozart complete stage output and a selection of his chamber, symphonic, and vocal-instrumental works. The Warsaw Chamber Opera is the only company in the world to have Mozart’s entire operatic output in its permanent repertoire. Small wonder that this unprecedented achievement won the Warsaw’s company wide international recognition. ..“

“In 1999, the Festival adopted the new identity Settimane Musicali di Stresa e del Lago Maggiore and increased its programming both in terms of concerts (from 16 in 1998 to 30 in 1999) and venues. New ancillary activities were introduced: promotional partnerships with other institutions and the extension of knowledge of classical music through involvement in other forms of artistic expresssion.
The Stresa Festival offers an annual festival replete with concerts of high artistic value: internationally renowned musicians and young prospects present works spanning baroque to contemporary styles, as well as perform original productions. “The Aula offers an introduction to early music for any students curious about original instruments or interested in developing their knowledge of early repertoire. It also brushes up on basic theory and provides excellent preparation for further study.
Eligible students will be those with existing musical qualifications, or those who have already completed three years of the standard “Aula Course”. The Open Course offers theoretical and instrumental classes, renaissance polyphony workshops, chamber music and improvisation. 2010 also sees the introduction of Renaissance and Baroque Dance to the curriculum.
Each Open Course is one year long and takes place over six weekends. It is split into individual and group instrumental lessons and is interspersed with theory sessions. At the end of the course, students who have attended the sessions regularly will be awarded a Participation Diploma. Students who completed the full three years of the Aula Course beforehand will receive a Graduation Diploma certified by the “Aula de Música Antiga”.
The Open Course at the “Aula De Música Antiga” can be followed as an optional subject forming part of the Professional Degree syllabus (equivalent to a Bachelor Degree). This option is available to both members of the Conservatoire and to students from other institutions (in accordance with the accreditation procedures laid out by the Catalan Government's Sub-Directorate General for Artistic Teaching).
The “Aula de Música Antiga” provides a stimulating environment in which to study the beautiful, fascinating, yet often neglected early repertoire. Teachers can share their ideas and students can develop their knowledge in a school situated in one of Europe's most picturesque and cultured cities.“

“It may take two to tango, but it took several to create a festival of Baroque music. It is perhaps rare that a collective vision should converge and be realised in a single event, but that is what happened, and that is what no doubt laid the foundations for its success.
In 1984 Ivor Bolton and I were married in the Wren church of St. James's, Piccadilly, where he had been appointed Director of Music by the then rector, the Reverend Donald Reeves. Donald was a man with a vision: for him, St. James's was to be a centre for as many activities of a positive and creative kind as possible. A more than competent organist himself, he set out to enable music (among many other things) to happen in the church, and his energy and enthusiasm were matched by those of Ivor, not long graduated from Clare College, Cambridge, where he had been Organ Scholar. And, it could be said, it was in the formation of the St. James's Baroque Players to accompany Ivor's performances of Bach cantatas at Sunday services that the Lufthansa Festival of Baroque Music had its roots. The St. James's Baroque Players also performed in some of the concerts that formed part of the 1984 Piccadilly Festival, a wide-ranging arts events organised at the church; the following year the concerts were grouped under the title of the Lufthansa Festival of Baroque Music with Ivor as Musical Director. …“

In an area that has seen an upsurge in scholarly interest in the past two decades, it attracts established scholars and students alike from Europe, North America and Australia. Recent venues have included Leeds, Nottingham, Birmingham and Bristol; papers given at several of these conferences have later been published in collections of essays by Ashgate publishing, as part of their Music in Nineteenth-Century Britain series.“

“Language and Music for Life was born in Spring 1997 and is committed to providing training in both music and foreign languages to students of all ages, with a lower age limit of 10 years old for the main Summer course, from 3 to 10 years old for the Peter Pan Course and no upper age limit.
The first LMFL summer course was held in 1997 and has grown in size and quality ever since.
Our music and language project functions in a context which is rich in individual ability, motivation, language, culture and generations.
Learning is not to be restricted to its manifestation in performance, though this is an essential part, but is to be intimately linked to the dynamics of the whole individual who is able to learn while changing, and able to change while learning.
Our linguistic premise: a language is learned not just for its own sake but also for a purpose. Language is used to communicate, to organise music making with others, to facilitate professional development and because we want to enjoy exchanges with those whom we have chosen to be with, and like, and because we don't want to live like a "foreigner" in an English speaking environment.
We learn a language to live and, as the name of our organisation puts it, to survive. …”
