(IT) Festival Musicale Estense

"In response to numerous requests for master-classes by its renowned guest performers, Grandezze & Meraviglie, the XIth Festival of Music from the Estense Collection, launches a series of residential Early Music courses in the ideal period location of the Corte Ospitale di Rubiera. In partnership with Rubiera City Council and the Province of Reggio Emilia, as well as with its traditional sponsors, the Festival intends to create an opportunity to reflect on performance practice in Italian music of the 17th and 18th century. This period is one of the most creative and prolific in the history of music. Between the 25th and 29th of June, students resident at the Corte Ospitale will have the chance to attend masterclasses given by Enrico Gatti (Violin), Lavinia Bertotti (Voice), Gaetano Nasillo (Cello) and Michele Barchi (Harpsichord and Chamber Music). For the modest enrolment fee of 350 Euro, they will be able to attend classes, dine and lodge at the Court. The residential course will also include public lectures and a final concert. (BE) Les Amis du Clavecin (The Friends of the Harpsichord) Spring Festival

“The year was 1991, the venue, the church of Tourinne-la-Grosse, the harpsichordist, Davitt Moroney. The enthusiastic audience witnessed the first recital of what was to become a festival that has lost none of its momentum since.

Its purpose was to offer a meeting place for harpsichord players and lovers, and since then the festival has welcomed numerous musicians in the course of its history.

Its repertoire has evolved continuously, comprising masterworks, forgotten works, unpublished works ... Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier, Goldberg Variations, French suites, suites by Handel, sonatas by Scarlatti, Harpsichord works by Louis and François Couperin, by Marchand, Froberger, Draghi, Purcell ...

A spring festival held in some of the most beautiful venues in Brabant Walloon like the little Saint Pierre church of Upigny, the Chapel Marie la Misérable of Woluwé-St-Lambert, the church Saint Nicolas of la Hulpe, or even a castle somewhere in Hamme-Mille.

In the wake of the festival, there are also "The Harpsichord on Thursdays" and the "Espace Mikrokosmos", whose programs are a perfect foil for those of "Le Clavecin à Tourinnes". ..“

(ES) Aula de Música Antiga (AMA) / Early Music Academy at the Girona Conservatory

“The Aula offers an introduction to early music for any students curious about original instruments or interested in developing their knowledge of early repertoire. It also brushes up on basic theory and provides excellent preparation for further study.

Eligible students will be those with existing musical qualifications, or those who have already completed three years of the standard “Aula Course”. The Open Course offers theoretical and instrumental classes, renaissance polyphony workshops, chamber music and improvisation. 2010 also sees the introduction of Renaissance and Baroque Dance to the curriculum.

Each Open Course is one year long and takes place over six weekends. It is split into individual and group instrumental lessons and is interspersed with theory sessions. At the end of the course, students who have attended the sessions regularly will be awarded a Participation Diploma. Students who completed the full three years of the Aula Course beforehand will receive a Graduation Diploma certified by the “Aula de Música Antiga”.

The Open Course at the “Aula De Música Antiga” can be followed as an optional subject forming part of the Professional Degree syllabus (equivalent to a Bachelor Degree). This option is available to both members of the Conservatoire and to students from other institutions (in accordance with the accreditation procedures laid out by the Catalan Government's Sub-Directorate General for Artistic Teaching).

The “Aula de Música Antiga” provides a stimulating environment in which to study the beautiful, fascinating, yet often neglected early repertoire. Teachers can share their ideas and students can develop their knowledge in a school situated in one of Europe's most picturesque and cultured cities.“
