The Rio Grande Recorders are a group of music enthusiasts in the Las Cruces, NM and El Paso, TX areas, who get together several times a month to play a wide variety of music. Our main meeting is on the second Thursday of every month at Good Samaritan Village in Las Cruces—entrance on Buena Vida—from 7:00-9:00 PM.
We are a chapter of the American Recorder Society . Performances include music from the renaissance and baroque periods, as well as a variety of other music.
Chapter activities include:
- Semi-monthly meetings/rehearsals, where we play music including rennaissance, baroque, and a variety of other types of music.
- Concerts throughout the year, including performances at the Good Samaritan Society and Las Cruces RenFaire in November.
- Bi-annual week-end early music workshop for recorders and violas de gamba, featuring classes from professional, nationally-known musicians.
