“Musica Antica a Magnano is an association founded in 1986 to promote a festival offering an opportunity to hear historically informed performances of early music on original instruments. The Festival concerts are held in August and early September in either a 12th-century church or in the town's 18th-century church. The latter also houses an organ built in 1794 by Giovanni Bruna and restored by Italo Marzi.
In 1988, early music courses were introduced concentrating principally on keyboard instruments for both young performers and specialists. Now covering a ten-day span in August and attracting musicians from numerous countries and cultural backgrounds, these courses simultaneously allow participants a fruitful exchange of ideas and opinions. In 1990, courses in organology and organ building were added, taking advantage of the numerous historical organs in the Biellese region. In 2009, these latter courses will be replaced by recorder, viola da gamba and chamber music courses. Shorter courses and workshops are organised at other times during the year. ..”
