Oakland-based independent record label, music production company, and recording studio Flowinglass Music was founded in 1993 by husband and wife musical team Margaret Davis and Kristoph Klover. Flowinglass Music publishes the works of Celtic rock band Avalon Rising, Celtic/Early Music group Broceliande, Celtic duo Margaret & Kristoph, and singer/harper Margaret Davis.

Recordings on the Flowinglass Music label are widely available through such outlets as iTunes, CDBaby, and Amazon, and our catalog was recently picked up for distribution by Sugo Music. Our music has been widely featured on Internet and traditional radio stations, newspapers, and magazines.

One of our best-selling titles, The Starlit Jewel, features songs from the writings of Tolkien, and is one of the very few recorded settings of Tolkien's poems to be officially authorized by the Estate and publisher of J.R.R. Tolkien.

It is a shame that some of the best acoustic music in the world, that of central France, is unknown and unavailable here in the US and Canada. I would like you to discover this music and come to love it.

“Heartistry Music began as one struggling musicial artist trying to help other struggling artist friends. I had just finished a new CD and, when the web was still quite new, decided to offer it to the public via the world wide web. Thinking that one little CD looked pretty puny all by itself I decided to invite all of my musician friends in the area to post their products as well. They gladly accepted, and Heartistry Music was born.

After numerous inquiries I saw the need for a formal music label. So, now, Heartistry Music is a music distribution and publishing company and record label dedicated to marketing quality recordings by independent artists. The "CD info" links each go to an appropriate entry at another site where you may learn more about or purchase the disc. In some cases, they also have better sound samples from these albums, using RealAudio or other formats. Major disclaimer! These sound samples (all in stereo) are of reasonable quality but are certainly not great: they do not represent accurately the sound quality of the recordings. They are here primarily for use in rough comparisons among the instruments: the basic features of the sound. The actual instruments sound quite a bit different, especially regarding high harmonics. If possible, play and listen to representative instruments in person, or find these and other similar recordings. On the plus side, all these samples are distorted similarly by the CD-sampling utility I used...it's a level playing field. The utility was an early one (1996), and I probably should remake all of these samples someday.... " ...
